Population Register Centre joins WWF's Green Office network

Green Office labelAs a member of the WWF's Green Office network, the Population Register Centre will be promoting an environmentally-friendly way of working across the whole organisation. The Centre was granted with Green Office label in February 2010 and, with its membership, the Population Register Centre will place an increased focus on eliminating unsustainable working practices.

To help us in our work, we will be drawing on an environmental programme designed in consultation with WWF. The programme is aimed at reducing our carbon dioxide emissions and ecological footprint. In cooperation with WWF, the Population Register Centre is committed to supporting ecological diversity and slowing down the process of climate change.

The aims of our environmental programme are four-fold:

  • Reduce paper consumption
  • Reduce electricity consumption
  • Reduce the volume of mixed waste and improve waste sorting practices
  • Increase environmental awareness among staff

In addition to these aims, the Centre will also be proactively working to promote e-publications and will strive to reduce both the emissions and carbon footprint generated by any paper publications and forms produced.
